|When you believe in Jesus, getting Baptised, and added to a Church is the natural next step. |
From this passage, membership of a Church means being “devoted” to 4 things:
|… the apostles’ teaching,||1 – The Church leaders’ guidance, teaching and direction, which must be based on the Bible.|
|…to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.||2 – Being a positive influence on the unity of the fellowship rather than being divisive. Being a “cheerleader” for Christ and His body here.|
|… All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,||3 – Contributing financially and with our time and talents. A tithe of our income is the Biblical standard, and each of us should also contribute to ministry and to the life of the Church, including attending meetings.|
|… praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.“||4 – Our mission – the “Great Commission” – which means reaching the world with Christ’s love and salvation.|
