Baby Dedication
We believe in Baptism! Baptism is a normal part of the Christian life, and usually the first step after a person gives their life to Jesus (Acts 2:38). Baptism is not required for salvation, but it is a step of obedience to the Word of God and your public declaration of faith in Jesus.
For this reason, we recommend that children under age twelve wait until they grasp the full significance of baptism.
We are, however, very happy to dedicate babies, as modelled by Joseph and Mary bringing Jesus to the Temple in the book of Luke. We believe that dedication provides a public opportunity to do 3 things:
1. ACKNOWLEDGE that your baby is God’s precious gift to you
2. As parents, DEDICATE your baby’s life to the purposes of God
3. As parents, and wider church family, PRAY God’s blessing over you baby’s life
